Guinea-Bissau seeks redemption against Equatorial Guinea in AFCON clash
Guinea-Bissau is gearing up for its second group-stage match against Equatorial Guinea on Thursday after suffering a defeat to Ivory Coast in the opening match (2-0). Baciro Candé, the coach, expresses renewed confidence in his team to bounce back in the competition.
The goal is clear: to secure the first three points, even against a formidable team that has not suffered a defeat in its last 11 matches.
«The first match is behind us, and our focus is entirely on winning tomorrow’s game. We are ready and determined to come out on top», says Baciro Candé.
He acknowledges that playing against the host country, Ivory Coast, presented challenges but expresses satisfaction with his players’ performance, emphasizing that adjustments have been made during training.
«Our collective mistakes against Ivory Coast have been analyzed and rectified. Every player gave their best, and we have worked hard to make corrections. Even though we expect a tough match tomorrow, our goal is clear: to win», states the Bissau-Guinean coach.
The encounter between Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea is scheduled for Thursday at 3:00 PM at the Ebimpé d’Allassane Ouattara Stadium.
