Mo Salah set to miss crucial matches for Egypt in AFCON 2023 due to hamstring injury

Mo Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team, is facing a two-match absence in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to a hamstring strain suffered during the clash against Ghana.

The Egyptian Football Federation officially announced, «Mo Salah’s hamstring injury means he will miss two matches at the African Cup of Nations against Cape Verde and the Round of 16 if he qualifies».

The setback comes at a crucial time for Egypt, as they prepare for a challenging fixture against Cape Verde, a team already qualified for the knockout stages.

Despite the blow of Salah’s absence, Egypt managed to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Ghana in a thrilling encounter, maintaining control of their destiny in the 34th edition of AFCON.

As Egypt navigates the absence of their star player, Salah, the upcoming match against Cape Verde presents a formidable challenge, emphasizing the importance of the remaining squad members stepping up in Salah’s absence.
