FC Barcelona in talks with Hansi Flick as potential successor to Xavi Hernandez

FC Barcelona is currently in full negotiations to find a successor to Xavi Hernandez by the end of the season. Deco, the club’s sporting director, has already been in contact with the potential replacement, German Hans-Dieter Flick.

One week after Xavi Hernandez announced his coaching retirement with the Culés, Barcelona is determined to quickly find a new coach.

They have set their sights on Hansi Flick, a former favorite of Joan Laporta, who was the architect of an exceptional season with Bayern Munich, including winning a treble.

Flick, who also coached the German national team, has already had discussions with Deco via video call, as reported by the Bild newspaper.

The former German national team coach expresses his desire to coach Barcelona and is even learning Spanish, according to sources close to the matter. Flick was Laporta’s initial candidate for 2021.

However, the name of the future FC Barcelona coach remains surrounded by speculation, and many other names could be mentioned before the club officially announces the choice for the upcoming season.
