President Faure Gnassingbé continues his initiatives to provide drinking water for his people

Under the dynamic leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, the Togolese government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring easy access to clean water for its citizens. Following significant achievements in Kara, new measures are underway to provide 17 localities in the Maritime and Plateaux regions with potable water supply infrastructure.

More concretely, the project entails the construction of photovoltaic wells with fountain terminals in these 17 villages across the two regions.

The National Agency for Support to Grassroots Development (ANADEB) has issued a call for tenders, inviting companies to submit their proposals to participate in these initiatives. The deadline for proposal submissions is set for March 7, 2024.

With a funding of nine billion FCFA, these endeavors are made possible through the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the West African Development Bank (BOAD).

They fall within the framework of the Project for the Hybridization of Diesel Engines of Multifunctional Platforms with Solar Systems (PHMD-PTFM), an initiative aimed at modernizing infrastructure and promoting the use of renewable energy.

It is noteworthy that the Togolese government has prioritized access to clean water in its five-year roadmap.

The ambitious goal is to achieve a national water supply coverage rate of 85% by 2025.

This initiative underscores President Faure Gnassingbé and his government’s ongoing commitment to the well-being and sustainable development of the Togolese population.
