Captain Ibrahim TRAORE receives 2022 report on data protection and digital education Initiatives

The Head of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, has received the 2022 public activity report from the Burkina Faso’s data protection authority known as CIL (the Commission de l’Informatique et des Libertés)). The report outlines the activities carried out throughout 2022 and includes the perspectives and grievances of the CIL.

Dr. Halquièta NASSA/TRAWINA, the President of the CIL, personally presented the 2022 public activity report to the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.

The report details that approximately 15,000 individuals have been trained in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) concerning information and awareness.

In the field of formalities processing, over 190 projects related to personal data have been implemented.

Around a hundred complaints have been registered by the institution. «Among the complaints, some concern the non-compliance with regulations, while others focus on the illicit use of digital platforms», clarified Dr. Halguièta NASSA/TRAWINA.

In terms of future plans, the (Commission de l’Informatique et des Libertés) plans to organize a national data protection day on March 30, 2024.

Additionally, a government seminar and the implementation of digital education in collaboration with the Ministry of Education are on the agenda.

During the audience, the President of the CIL took the opportunity to seek the support of the Head of State for the construction of the institution’s headquarters.
