Barcelona triumphs over Valencia in dramatic La Liga encounter

In the closing match of the 33rd round of La Liga, FC Barcelona hosted Valencia at Montjuic. Barcelona, needing a win to regain the second place, struggled but emerged victorious.

After two recent defeats, Barcelona aimed to return to winning ways against Valencia.

The game started well for Xavi Hernandez’s men, with Raphinha delivering a beautiful cross from the left, headed in powerfully by Fermín Lopez for the opening goal (1-0, 22′).

However, Barcelona then lost momentum, as Marc André Ter Stegen’s error led to Valencia equalizing through Hugo Duro (1-1, 27′).

Ronald Araujo conceded a penalty, converted by Pepelu, giving Valencia the lead (2-1, 38′).

In stoppage time of the first half, Valencia were reduced to 10 men after goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was sent off for handling the ball outside his box (45’+4).

In the second half, with the numerical advantage, Barcelona quickly leveled the score through Robert Lewandowski’s header (2-2, 49′).

Lewandowski then capitalized on a poorly cleared corner to put Barcelona ahead (3-2, 82′).

He sealed the victory with a stunning direct free kick (4-2, 90+3′). Barcelona’s win ends their poor run and secures their position in second place in La Liga, while Valencia’s hopes for European qualification take a hit.
