Champions League Semi-Final: Dortmund edges PSG in tightly contested match

In the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund faced Paris Saint-Germain in a highly anticipated match. Dortmund secured a narrow victory over PSG with a lone goal.

The knockout stages of the tournament bring a different intensity compared to the group stage.

While PSG had a decent run in the group stage with one win and a draw, the semi-finals present a new challenge.

Despite a goalless draw until fifteen minutes before halftime, Borussia Dortmund managed to break the deadlock.

Schlotterbeck’s aerial pass found Fullkrüg (36′, 1-0) in PSG’s box, who netted a left-footed shot despite Marquinhos’ tight marking and Lucas Hernandez’s efforts. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of BVB, with Hernandez later leaving the field due to injury.

PSG, despite enjoying a majority of possession (60%) in the first half, struggled to penetrate Dortmund’s defense.

The second half saw the Parisians unable to crack Dortmund’s tactical setup under Edin Terzić.

The final score stood at 1-0, giving PSG a chance to bounce back in the return leg at Parc des Princes next week.
