Mali/Cooperation: Bamako and Cairo seek closer ties for the greater good of their peoples

Mali and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as defense, security, and diplomacy.

This renewed collaboration was underscored during a recent phone conversation between Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdoulaye Diop, and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Atty.

Both nations expressed a shared vision to fortify their partnership, particularly in the fight against terrorism, capacity building, and experience sharing.

The discussions also touched on expanding cooperation to include sectors like health, economy, social affairs, culture, and political support.

In light of recent geopolitical shifts in the Sahel region, highlighted by the formation of the Confederation of Sahel States, Egypt conveyed its readiness to enhance and diversify its cooperation with Mali across various domains of mutual interest.

Minister Badr Abdel Atty emphasized the importance of intensifying high-level political consultations to realize their shared objectives.

Mali, committed to diversifying its international partnerships, indicated its openness to strengthening bilateral ties with countries that align with its principles and cooperation standards.

This strategic approach reflects Mali’s broader efforts to engage with global partners on terms that support its national interests and development goals.
