Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s strategic vision calls for a regional exhibition on critical minerals to be held soon

Burkina Faso is gearing up to host a major regional exhibition focused on critical minerals this September, aligning with President Ibrahim Traoré’s strategic vision to enhance regional cooperation and cement the country’s position as a mining hub in West Africa.

Historically known for its gold production, Burkina Faso has recently strengthened its mining ties with neighboring Mali and Niger.

Mali is emerging as a significant lithium producer, vital for green technologies, while Niger continues to lead in uranium production, crucial for nuclear energy. This trilateral collaboration presents new economic opportunities for the region.

The expo, to be held in Ouagadougou, will serve as a key platform for experts, investors, and policymakers to discuss critical minerals essential for global energy transitions and Africa’s industrial growth.

The event will address responsible resource exploitation and strategies to attract investment in this expanding sector.

By hosting this event, Burkina Faso aims to solidify its mining sector role and enhance regional and international partnerships.

This initiative supports President Traoré’s goal of diversifying the national economy by leveraging Burkina Faso’s mining potential and fostering strategic alliances with neighboring countries.

The critical minerals expo is poised to become a significant event for West African mining professionals, providing Burkina Faso with a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of global discussions on mineral resource futures.
