DRC / President Félix Tshisekedi: Proactive leadership to contain the health crisis

In response to the current health crisis, President Félix Tshisekedi has taken decisive steps to protect the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and address the Mpox outbreak.

He has ordered the procurement of vaccines specifically designed to combat the disease and allocated $10 million to support these efforts.

These actions demonstrate his unwavering commitment to preventing the situation from worsening.

Dr. Kaseya has confirmed that the vaccines will soon arrive in the DRC, noting that they will be distributed to affected individuals, their close contacts, and those considered at high risk.

This initiative aims to bolster public health protection and safeguard vulnerable populations. Additionally, Health Minister Dr. Roger Kamba has outlined a national contingency plan developed by the National Institute of Public Health in collaboration with CROUSP to manage the crisis effectively.

The DRC’s experience in handling epidemic crises, as highlighted by Minister Kamba, is a significant asset.

This expertise, previously shared with other nations, will be crucial in controlling the Mpox outbreak within the country.

With a dedicated response team and President Tshisekedi’s steadfast support, the country is well-positioned to navigate this health emergency.

In summary, President Félix Tshisekedi’s proactive approach, supported by concrete actions and national expertise, equips the DRC to overcome the Mpox crisis successfully
