Burkina Faso/Destabilization: The will of the people, a preoccupation of President TRAORE?

Since assuming the highest office, President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso has shown a deep commitment to addressing the will and aspirations of his fellow citizens, working to meet them through concrete actions. This appears to be the case with the ongoing destabilization efforts orchestrated by the enemies of Burkina Faso.

It’s worth recalling that after revealing the identities of some masterminds behind these plots, among them, exiled Burkinabe citizens, the public called for sanctions, viewing them as the only way to put an end to this charade, which has already claimed the lives of many Burkinabe, both civilians and military personnel. A particularly notable case is that of former transitional president Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Damiba, who is currently in exile in Togo.

Damiba was named by the Minister of Security as part of a network of destabilizers and was identified as one of the masterminds behind multiple foiled destabilization attempts, as well as the terrorist attack in Barsalgho on August 24th. This earned him the nickname “the Patriarch.” One of his accomplices, Commander Ahmed Kinda, also known as Akochi, who was arrested by Burkinabe police, confessed to reporting to Damiba in his mission to destabilize the country.

With the former transitional president’s involvement confirmed, public calls for a firm response from President Traoré have intensified. Many Burkinabe are demanding the extradition of Lt. Col. Damiba so he can answer for his actions before the appropriate authorities. In response to the delicate situation and always attentive to his compatriots, the Burkinabe authorities have reportedly begun steps to bring the accused back to the country.

Speaking on the matter during a radio address on Saturday, October 5, President Ibrahim Traoré announced that discussions with the Togolese authorities had resumed. The Burkinabe people are hopeful that their wishes will be fulfilled. President Traoré also emphasized that the time had come for the masterminds to be held accountable for their actions, after two years of efforts to raise awareness, during which the misguided were given an opportunity to repent.
