Russia has confirmed that 24 countries will participate in the upcoming BRICS summit, scheduled for the end of October in Kazan. Yuri Ushakov, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s advisor on foreign affairs, announced on Thursday that leaders from nine BRICS member states, including China’s Xi Jinping, Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian, have confirmed their attendance.

The summit, which aims to strengthen cooperation among emerging economies, will bring together nations interested in deepening ties with the BRICS bloc.

Ushakov noted that invitations had been extended to 38 states, encompassing both current members and countries exploring partnerships with BRICS.

As the bloc continues to attract global interest, particularly from nations seeking alternatives to the traditional Western-led financial systems, this year’s summit is expected to focus on expanding economic cooperation, trade, and investment.

The inclusion of non-member countries signals the growing influence of BRICS as a platform for developing economies to assert a stronger presence on the global economic stage.
