Manchester United appoints Sporting’s Ruben Amorim as new head coach

In a surprising turn of events, Manchester United have announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new manager, following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Sporting Lisbon, Amorim’s former club, have confirmed the transfer, stating that United have activated the €10 million release clause in the Portuguese manager’s contract.

“Manchester United FC expressed interest in hiring coach Rüben Amorim, and the Board of Directors of Sporting mentioned the terms and conditions contained in the employment contract in force between the company and the coach, in particular the respective employment clause termination and for the amount of €10million,” Sporting’s statement read.

Amorim, who had previously been linked with both Liverpool and Manchester City, now has the task of turning around United’s fortunes.

The Red Devils have struggled in both domestic and European competitions this season, leading to Ten Hag’s dismissal.

The new Manchester  United manager could even be in the dugout for the team’s next Premier League match against Chelsea this Sunday, as the club looks to secure a swift transition.

This move represents a significant coup for United, who will be hoping Amorim’s tactical acumen and man-management skills can revive the club’s fortunes.

The Portuguese manager’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture, with the team needing to find form quickly in order to salvage their season.
