Burkina Faso / Towards final victory: The fight against terrorism in Faso reaches a decisive turning point under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré

The fight against terrorism in Burkina Faso is intensifying, with a decisive victory in sight under Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership. As Commander-in-Chief, Traoré is resolutely committed to restoring peace and protecting national integrity.

He has bolstered military strength across the eastern, northern, central-northern, and central-eastern regions, and in early November, the Burkinabe Armed Forces launched a series of unprecedented offensives, delivering significant blows to terrorist groups and seizing large caches of war equipment.

In the eastern region, the military’s aereo-ground strikes have made substantial headway. Several enemy bases have been reclaimed, and dozens of fighters affiliated with the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM) were neutralized.

Additionally, five soldiers who had been held hostage were freed, a powerful testament to the resilience and resolve of Burkina Faso’s combat forces.

The northern region has also seen key successes, where coordinated operations have secured supply convoys and reclaimed critical logistical resources, particularly around Titao.

These gains are enabling the gradual return of administrative services and strengthening the government’s presence in recaptured areas.

With continuous offensives, the Burkinabe forces are sustaining pressure to reclaim the entirety of national territory. Recent months’ successes and the establishment of new rapid-response bases underline the steadfast commitment to defeating terrorism and ensuring lasting security for the people of Burkina Faso.
