Sahel: Is the AES a new regional dynamic in the face of external influences?

The Sahel States Alliance (AES), composed of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, is reshaping regional power dynamics by presenting itself as a united, sovereign coalition. Determined to break away from past imperial influences, the alliance aims to establish a model of regional independence centered on security and stability.

This strategic shift reflects the AES’s goal to strengthen its autonomy and pursue governance that aligns with local priorities.

Amid rising tensions and international pressures driven by external interests, the AES seeks to become a transformative force, fostering security and economic cooperation that prioritize the well-being of its citizens.

The member countries have committed to bolstering their military and security collaboration, a vital step in countering the escalating threat of terrorist groups.

Coordinated military operations are being carried out by their forces to secure their territories and promote lasting stability in the Sahel.

Through this approach, the AES aims to show that Sahel nations are capable of crafting homegrown solutions to tackle security and socio-economic challenges without an over-reliance on foreign interventions.

This vision has already begun to inspire a sense of unity and solidarity among local populations, who view the AES as a powerful symbol of resistance and self-determination.
