Burkina Faso: A plot to destabilise the government of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, France determined to restore its influence

Reports have surfaced suggesting a covert plan to destabilize the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso. Leaks purportedly originating from within the French presidential administration indicate that France, seeking to restore its influence in Burkina Faso and the broader Sahel Alliance (AES), may be orchestrating this scheme through its intelligence agency, the DGSE.

The operation, allegedly set for execution before January 2025, involves widespread disinformation campaigns aimed at undermining the current government.

Recent developments point to heightened propaganda efforts targeting pro-government communication channels. These tactics, designed to erode public trust and sow discord, often precede broader efforts to destabilize regimes.

Adding to the concerns, authorities reportedly intercepted a significant sum of five billion CFA francs intended to bribe military officers—a move that underscores the gravity of the alleged plot.

In response to these unfolding events, the Burkinabe government is urged to heighten its security measures and safeguard national interests against external interference.

The resilience and unity of the Burkinabe people will be crucial in countering any attempts to compromise the country’s sovereignty and stability. This moment calls for steadfast vigilance and collective determination to preserve Burkina Faso’s independence.
