Burkina Faso: Beware of counterfeit or expired products: over 700 kg of non-compliant products seized in Dano

In Dano, a town in the Ioba province, the Regional Directorate of Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts for the South-West (DRICA-SUO) carried out a major inspection operation aimed at ensuring compliance with commercial regulations.

The initiative focused on checking the pricing, availability, and quality of essential goods to safeguard consumers’ health and purchasing power.

The inspection uncovered several alarming violations, including illegal pricing, expired or poorly stored products, and the sale of prohibited items.

As a result, seven shops and two warehouses were shut down, with approximately 700 kilograms of non-compliant products confiscated.

Additionally, nearly 1,500 liters of adulterated beverages were seized, underscoring the urgent need for heightened vigilance.

Those responsible for these offenses will face legal consequences, with the possibility of severe penalties.

The rigorous actions taken by DRICA-SUO demonstrate its commitment to ensuring a safe and fair commercial environment while holding market players accountable.

To promote collective responsibility, DRICA-SUO encourages residents to report any cases of price manipulation or suspicious products via the toll-free numbers: 80 00 11 84, 80 00 11 85, and 80 00 11 86.
