Football/ Champions league: PSG finds momentum with commanding win over Salzburg

Paris Saint-Germain reignited their Champions League campaign with a decisive 3-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday, putting an end to their four-game winless streak in Europe. The result, driven by goals from Gonçalo Ramos, Nuno Mendes, and Désiré Doué, keeps PSG’s hopes for progression alive with two matches remaining.

From the opening whistle, PSG dominated possession and created multiple chances. Achraf Hakimi and Bradley Barcola were instrumental on the flanks, repeatedly testing Salzburg’s defense.

Gonçalo Ramos broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, sliding in Hakimi’s headed assist after a precise cross from Barcola.

This marked Ramos’ first goal of the season, a significant milestone following his return from injury.

Despite controlling 70% of the first-half possession, PSG struggled to maintain their rhythm in the second half. Salzburg gained confidence, but Luis Enrique’s tactical changes proved crucial.

Désiré Doué’s introduction in the 67th minute revitalized the Parisians. The young midfielder assisted Nuno Mendes’ powerful strike in the 72nd minute and sealed the win with a spectacular finish in the 85th.

The victory lifts PSG into the qualifying zone and offers a much-needed boost ahead of their next group-stage clash against Manchester City. With this performance, PSG regains optimism for the crucial stages of the tournament.
