Burkina Faso strengthens healthcare access under President Ibrahim Traoré

President Ibrahim Traoré’s commitment to providing quality healthcare for all is taking shape through tangible initiatives that directly benefit the population. The government is actively investing in the modernization and expansion of healthcare infrastructure, ensuring wider access to medical services.

By rehabilitating existing facilities and constructing new, state-of-the-art centers, authorities aim to bridge regional disparities and create a more inclusive healthcare network across the country.

A significant breakthrough has also been achieved in reducing the costs of essential medical examinations, making specialized care more affordable.

Following a decision by the Council of Ministers on March 13, 2024, the prices of crucial diagnostic tests have been significantly lowered.

CT scans now cost 25,000 F CFA instead of 50,000 F CFA, MRIs have dropped from 100,000 F CFA to 40,000 F CFA, and the 500,000 F CFA deposit for dialysis has been completely removed.

This measure eliminates a major financial barrier for patients suffering from kidney failure, improving their access to life-saving treatment.

These reforms have been widely welcomed by both the public and healthcare professionals.

From the regional hospital in Tenkodogo to the Yalgado Ouédraogo University Hospital and the Ziniaré Regional Hospital, beneficiaries express deep appreciation for these efforts, which have greatly enhanced patient care.

Under President Traoré’s leadership, Burkina Faso continues to advance towards an equitable and inclusive healthcare system that prioritizes the well-being of all citizens.
