Algeria: Cooperation between the Algerian and Sudanese parliaments, a parliamentary fraternity and friendship group has just been set up

From the President of the Republic to the parliamentarians, including government members, Algeria plays a significant role on the continent to promote peace among states.

To establish a channel of exchange between the parliaments of both countries, a parliamentary group for Algerian-Sudanese fraternity and friendship was inaugurated on Sunday, November 12, at the headquarters of the National People’s Assembly (APN).

The objective is to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance parliamentary activities between the two nations.

Presiding over the installation ceremony, the Vice President of the APN, Hadjira Abbas, emphasized that Algerian-Sudanese relations are characterized by fraternity based on cooperation, friendship, mutual respect, and alignment on various regional and international issues.

She recalled Sudan’s support for Algeria’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council for the 2024-2025 period.

Stressing the need to diversify and intensify parliamentary activities between the two countries, the Vice President stated that this parliamentary group of fraternity and friendship can effectively contribute to energizing parliamentary diplomacy.

Also present at the event, the Sudanese Ambassador to Algiers, Nadia Mohamed Khair Osman, stated that the establishment of this friendship group marks an important and privileged milestone in the relations between the two countries.

She believes it will contribute to strengthening dialogue and consultation on issues of common interest.

The Sudanese diplomat reflected on Algeria’s continuous support for Sudan and its understanding stance regarding the crisis it is going through.
