Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré leads the Council of Ministers towards crucial decisions for the country

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of the Transition in Burkina Faso, chaired a crucial Cabinet meeting last Wednesday where several key issues were deliberated and approved, as conveyed by the Minister of State and Government Spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.

In the realm of industrial development, trade, crafts, and small and medium-sized enterprises, the Council approved two decree projects.

The first pertains to the establishment of a mixed-economy company tasked with producing military and paramilitary clothing, as well as attire for the private industrial sector and professional establishments.

The second decree grants authorization to the Burkinabe Textile Fibers Company (SOFITEX) for its participation in the social capital of “IROTEX Burkina,” a venture dedicated to the industrial transformation of cotton.

This initiative aims to capture national, regional, and international markets, as explained by the Minister of Commerce, Serge Gnaniodem Poda.

In the realm of economy, finance, and foresight, the Council approved a report seeking to modify the regulations governing public markets.

Minister Aboubakar Nacanabo emphasized the significance of adapting to the current context to modernize procedures and ensure the effective execution of public contracts in accordance with international standards.

The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights presented a document outlining criminal policy, aptly named «penal policy».

Approved by the Council, this document consolidates government strategies to combat delinquency and crime while enhancing access to justice for all citizens, as highlighted by Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala.

Regarding the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Fishery Resources, three reports were adopted.

The first concerns the modification of the decree establishing the Burkinabe Cashew Council.

The second report focuses on the creation of the Burkinabe Food Sovereignty Fund, aiming to optimize funding for the agro-pastoral and fishery value chain.

Finally, the third decree pertains to the leasing of the dairies in Cissin in Ouagadougou, Fada N’gourma, and ten fish farming stations.

These decisions made during the Cabinet meeting underscore Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s and his government’s commitment to economic development, institutional modernization, and the promotion of justice in Burkina Faso.
