Football/Luis Suárez announces retirement from international Football with Uruguay

Luis Suárez, a true icon of Uruguayan football, has officially announced the end of his international career, marking the close of a significant chapter for La Celeste. At 37 years old, the legendary striker, known as “El Pistolero,” revealed in an emotional press conference that Friday’s upcoming match against Paraguay will be his final appearance in the national team jersey.

 

Over his illustrious career, Suárez has made an indelible mark on Uruguayan football, scoring 68 goals in 142 appearances.

 

“I’ve always been taught to give my all for my national team, and I’ve done so until now without holding back. I have no regrets,” Suárez stated.

 

He also took the opportunity to thank the fans for their unwavering support throughout his journey.

 

This farewell match against Paraguay will bring to a close a remarkable international career, during which Suárez not only became one of Uruguay’s all-time leading scorers but also a symbol of passion, commitment, and determination on the field.
