Foot/ Champions League: Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi leaves the field with injury in 5-2 win over Red Star

Barcelona’s young defender Pau Cubarsi suffered a brutal facial injury during the Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade, which Barça won 5-2.

In the 65th minute, Cubarsi was struck in the face by Red Star’s Uros Spajic’s boot during a free kick, forcing him off the pitch with blood streaming down his face.

The team quickly confirmed that Cubarsi required ten stitches to close a severe cut on his chin. Images released post-match show the defender proudly displaying the fresh wound, his face bearing the mark of a fierce battle.

Despite the injury, Cubarsi kept his composure, earning admiration from fans, who now call him “The Catalan Warrior.”

Cubarsi’s resilience has only strengthened his standing with Barcelona supporters, who appreciate his determination and toughness on the field.

Though the incident may leave a lasting scar, it’s a symbol of the young Spaniard’s commitment—one that cements his reputation among the Barça faithful.
