Football/ FC Barcelona secures record-Breaking deal with Nike

FC Barcelona has signed  a historic contract with Nike, promising to be one of the most lucrative deals in football history. The club’s board, led by Joan Laporta, approved the agreement this Friday, fulfilling a promise made just over a month ago that the deal would be “the best in football history.”

This deal comes as a significant boost to Barcelona’s finances, allowing the club to address its ongoing financial challenges.

Under Laporta’s leadership, the club’s financial situation has shown improvement, and this new contract with Nike is set to provide a steady stream of revenue for the coming years.

According to Catalan radio station RAC1, while the deal had already been verbally agreed, it was still subject to board approval. The contract will see Barcelona’s revenue increase by €48 million between 2024 and 2028.

From 2028 to 2038, the club is expected to earn an additional €58-60 million per year compared to its current deal. Additionally, a renewal bonus of €100 million will further boost Barcelona’s income, bringing the total to €120 million per season.

Laporta stated that while the deal could have been finalized in August, he held out for the best possible offer. “We went to the market, found the best deal, and Nike matched it,” he confirmed.

The agreement, which will run for the next decade, is a key move in stabilizing Barcelona’s financial future.
