Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré steps up his efforts to make quality health care accessible to all
Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has taken a significant step towards strengthening its healthcare system. On December 31, 2024, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, acting on behalf of the President, handed over a substantial delivery of medical and logistical equipment to the Ministry of Health.
This package includes ten ambulances, 39 pick-up trucks, 625 motorcycles, and state-of-the-art surgical, intensive care, and laboratory equipment, amounting to nearly 5.8 billion CFA francs, with 90% of the funding sourced domestically.
The initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these resources would not only improve the quality of care but also provide better working conditions for healthcare professionals who tirelessly serve communities.
This development aligns with the Health Development Support Program (PADS), which underpins the National Health Development Plan 2021-2030, focusing on achieving sustainable universal health coverage.
By leveraging national resources and fostering a sense of collective responsibility, the government is demonstrating its unwavering commitment to overhauling the healthcare sector.
This move reflects President Traoré’s vision of prioritizing the well-being of every Burkinabè and ensuring equitable access to essential health services.
