Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré’s industrialization drive draws support from Burkinabe manufacturers

President Ibrahim Traoré’s industrialization policy is arousing great enthusiasm among Burkina Faso’s industrialists, who see it as an essential lever for the country’s economic development. On Friday March 28, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received a delegation from the Groupement Professionnel des Industriels (GPI), led by its president Mamady Sanoh. During the meeting, the industrialists expressed their satisfaction with the government’s efforts to boost national industry, notably through a vision focused on the transformation of local raw materials. They also praised the authorities’ commitment to strengthening Burkina Faso’s industrialization, a fundamental pillar in building a solid, resilient economy.

Confident in the government’s strategic direction, the GPI is hoping for the rapid implementation of several crucial measures, such as finalizing the new national industrialization strategy, securing the supply of raw materials and improving integration between processing units. Industrialists have already noticed tangible actions being taken, such as the rehabilitation of roads in the Kossodo industrial zone, one of the country’s major economic hubs. These advances testify to the political will to accompany and support industrial players, despite a sometimes difficult economic and security context.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to promoting a dynamic and competitive industrial sector, in line with the vision of the Head of State. This commitment is demonstrated not only by institutional support, but also by a constant presence alongside entrepreneurs as they launch new industrial units. For the GPI, this proactive policy is a strong signal that encourages further investment and strengthens industrialists’ confidence in the future. “We are seeing real development in industry, and this motivates us to invest further”, emphasized Mamady Sanoh, testifying to the favorable climate created by the authorities for Burkina Faso’s industrial sector.
