Kenya dominates Boston Marathon 2025 with stunning double victory

John Korir and Sharon Lokedi delivered a Kenyan masterclass at the 129th Boston Marathon, sweeping both elite races in record-breaking fashion.

Korir, breaking away at the 32km mark, stormed to victory in 2:04:45, showcasing a dominant solo performance.

Meanwhile, Lokedi stunned the women’s field, dashing Hellen Obiri’s hopes for a historic three-peat with a blistering 2:17:22 finish—shattering the 11-year-old course record by nearly 2.5 minutes.

The women’s race ignited early, with a lead pack clocking a 1:08:46 half-marathon.

Lokedi and Obiri battled fiercely before Lokedi unleashed a decisive final-kilometer surge, leaving the two-time defending champion behind.

Ideal conditions (8°C, no wind) favored fast times, cementing this edition as one of Boston’s fastest. Lokedi, the 2022 New York champion, now etches her name deeper into marathon history.
