Burkina Faso: Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, FASO GUULGO embodies the new era of agropastoral sovereignty

Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is multiplying concrete initiatives to establish genuine economic and agricultural sovereignty. One of the most recent examples of this momentum is undoubtedly the inauguration, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Koubri, of the state-owned company “FASO GUULGO”, dedicated to the production of livestock feed. Championed by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, this new entity is the result of the nationalization of the former SOFAB and marks a decisive turning point in the national strategy for developing the agropastoral sector.
FASO GUULGO is not merely symbolic—it is already fully operational, just five months after its creation. With an initial capacity of 100 tons per day, the Koubri facility addresses a vital need for livestock farmers: access to high-quality, locally produced, and affordable feed. The goal is to strengthen the country’s food self-sufficiency, improve livestock productivity, and offer a credible alternative to costly imports.
But the vision goes far beyond Koubri. Large-scale investments are planned in Bagré and Samandéni, where two additional production units will be established, each with similar capacity. At the same time, a new production line will be added to the Koubri plant. This planned and structured approach demonstrates the political will to create a strong, resilient national industry capable of sustainably supporting rural stakeholders.
Through this initiative, President Ibrahim Traoré once again proves that Burkina Faso’s independence is not limited to rhetoric, but is being built day by day, project by project. FASO GUULGO embodies this vision of building a self-sufficient nation that values its resources, boosts local industries, and restores dignity to its producers. The real surprise here lies in the efficiency and speed of execution—qualities that inspire and command respect.
