DRC / H.E. Mr. Félix Tshisekedi strengthens the healthcare system in Kolwezi: Inauguration of the Mwangeji General Reference Hospital

In his ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of his fellow citizens, President Félix Tshisekedi continues to take concrete actions in favor of collective well-being. This Wednesday, in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province, the Head of State inaugurated the Mwangeji General Referral Hospital, a tertiary-level facility with a capacity of 200 beds. This major achievement represents a significant step forward in the public health policy led by the government.
Fully equipped and featuring advanced medical facilities, this new hospital fills a long-standing gap in the region. It will now allow the local population to access quality healthcare without having to travel long distances. This modern infrastructure reflects President Félix Tshisekedi’s determination to bring essential services closer to the people, particularly in areas that have long been underserved.
Following this inauguration, the Head of State also officially opened the new building housing the provincial health division. This large, modern facility—designed to accommodate all state-run health services—demonstrates the government’s commitment to structuring and professionalizing provincial health administration. This marks another key milestone in the drive toward a more coherent and effective healthcare system.
These achievements are part of the 12th session of the Conference of Governors, held under the theme: “Health as a Factor of Social Cohesion and Sustainable Development of the Provinces”. By making universal health coverage one of his main priorities, President Félix Tshisekedi underscores his determination to place people at the heart of his agenda. Through these initiatives, he reaffirms that the health of the population is a national priority and a fundamental condition for the sustainable development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
