A calculated chameleon: Why Cameroon must reject the opportunism of Tchiroma…

Cameroon is facing a covert political offensive, orchestrated from a safe distance in Yola, Nigeria, by Issa Tchiroma Bakary. After 25 years as a loyal cog in the state apparatus, this former minister now postures as a “liberator.” This is not a genuine awakening but a calculated maneuver, fueled by personal ambition and external interests.

The history of Tchiroma is one of unwavering service to the system he now decries.

Where was his voice when our youth needed jobs, our farmers needed markets, and our entrepreneurs needed support? His legacy is one of empty television appearances and hollow rhetoric.

Now, from abroad, he calls for the youth to take to the streets, not to present a political program or a vision for the economy, but to satisfy his personal vendetta.

He speaks only of conquest and power, treating the youth as a mere instrument.

Cameroon does not need prophets of chaos or agents of foreign interests seeking a weakened state. Our nation is greater than one man’s ego. Our youth deserve opportunities, not calls for useless sacrifice.

Cameroon must remain united and vigilant, rejecting this manipulation and the violence it incites. Issa Tchiroma does not seek to liberate Cameroon; he seeks to seize a country he never helped build. To that, Cameroon must say no.
