Congo-Brazzaville: H.E. Denis Sassou Nguesso calls for action to further development

Outgoing President Denis Sassou Nguesso fulfilled his civic duty this Sunday, March 15, 2026, at a polling station in Brazzaville. At 82 years old, he is seeking a new term to continue the development work undertaken. Accompanied by his wife, he was keen to set an example by personally going to the polls.

“My wife and I have fulfilled our civic duties. We remain hopeful that what I heard during the campaign will materialize today,” the Head of State declared upon leaving the polling station.

A message imbued with confidence, commensurate with the stakes of this election which will decide the country’s future for the next five years.

Facing six opposition candidates, whose main figures have chosen to boycott, the outgoing president is counting on the mobilization of his electorate.

“I say to the people that if we are elected, the project we have presented will be implemented,” he stated, calling on Congolese people to stand by his side to continue the march towards development.

The project championed by President Denis Sassou Nguesso revolves around consolidating achievements and accelerating major projects.

Having restored macroeconomic balances and laid the foundations for sustainable recovery, the task now is to mobilize resources to fund social programs and infrastructure.

This election is taking place in a generally calm atmosphere, despite calls for a boycott from some opponents.

The Congolese people, in their wisdom, will know how to choose continuity and stability, the indispensable conditions for the harmonious development of the country. The first results are expected in the coming days.
