The Brazilian Football Federation named a new head coach for the Seleção.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has ended its managerial hunt by appointing Portuguese tactician Jorge Jesus as the new head coach of the Seleção. The 69-year-old, currently at Saudi club Al-Hilal, will take charge after the CBF agreed to pay his €2.5 million release clause.

Jesus, who previously managed Flamengo in 2019, has signed a contract until 2026 and will lead Brazil at the next World Cup.

Despite taking a significant pay cut from his lucrative Saudi salary, he now faces the immense task of reviving a struggling Brazilian side that has lacked direction since Tite’s departure post-Qatar 2022.

Known for his attacking philosophy, Jesus brings European and South American experience, having won trophies with Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, and Flamengo.

His immediate challenge? Restoring confidence after Brazil’s recent Copa América disappointment and integrating a new generation of stars.

The decision ends weeks of speculation, with the CBF reportedly considering both foreign and domestic options before settling on Jesus.

His first matches in charge will be June friendlies, offering an early glimpse at his vision for the five-time world champions.
