Togo celebrates 65th independence Anniversary with major development projects

As Togo marks its 65th independence anniversary, the nation is set to inaugurate a series of landmark projects reflecting President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé’s commitment to economic and social development. Far from being merely symbolic, these celebrations emphasize concrete action and forward-looking progress.

Energy transition takes center Stage
The commemorations will kick off on Tuesday, April 22, in Dapaong (Savanes region) with the groundbreaking ceremony of a 25 MW solar power plant in Dalwak.

Spanning over 115 hectares, this project aligns with Togo’s universal energy access policy and demonstrates the President’s dedication to renewable energy and rural electrification as drivers of equitable development.

Industrial advancement in Lomé
On April 23-24, the Adétikopé Industrial Platform (PIA) – a flagship of Togo’s industrialization – will host several inaugurations:

  • A pharmaceutical manufacturing plant
  • A nutritional supplements production unit (Nutrisource)
  • An aluminum framing company (Vivace)
  • The launch of construction for a new textile factory

These strategic investments support national efforts to boost local value addition, create jobs, and strengthen industrial self-sufficiency.

Inclusive nationwide development
Additional inaugurations include:

  • The Kekeli service center in Djidjolé
  • The Benhart garment factory in Datcha

These projects underscore President Gnassingbé’s inclusive approach to ensuring balanced territorial development across Togo.

A Vision of sovereignty and sustainability
These achievements highlight the President’s pragmatic strategy of anchoring national progress on two pillars: sustainable development and economic sovereignty.

As Togo celebrates 65 years of independence, these transformative projects reaffirm its trajectory toward self-reliant prosperity.
