Burkina Faso: Kundé Awards prepares for 23rd edition with star-studded celebration

The organizers of Burkina Faso’s prestigious Kundé Awards held their second press conference on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Ouagadougou to announce details for the upcoming 23rd edition of the music awards ceremony. Scheduled for Friday, April 25 at the Ouaga 2000 Banquet Hall, the event promises to be a glamorous celebration of Burkinabe music and culture.

The evening will begin at 7:30 PM with a red carpet event followed by a gourmet cocktail reception in a climate-controlled tent, with live coverage broadcast on BF1 television.

Attendees can look forward to an “Apotheosis” fashion show by designer Tuhoraaa, along with performances from top artists including the Orange Music Talent collective, Awa Boussim, Roger Wango, Zedess, Makoma, Zitany Neil and Espoir 2000.

A total of 15 trophies will be awarded during the ceremony, including 10 competitive awards and 5 special honors such as the Kundé d’Honneur and Kundé d’Hommage.

The public can still participate by voting via SMS until the night of the event, with options to support nominees Floby, Kayawoto or Miss Tanya by texting codes to 312.

Commissioner General Salfo Soré, known as Jah Press, reported that preparations are 90% complete, with 1,000 guests expected for the main awards gala and 8,000 anticipated for the “After Kundé” concert on April 30 at the Palais des Sports.

He emphasized that this year’s edition, featuring the new climate-controlled dining experience, serves as both a celebration of Burkinabe culture and a tribute to the nation’s security forces.

All events will be broadcast live on RTB, showcasing Burkina Faso’s vibrant music scene to audiences across the country and beyond. The organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to fully enjoy the evening’s festivities.
