Burkina Faso: The Burkinabe army, an unshakeable bulwark against destabilisation plots, honour and sacrifice in the service of the Nation.

Ouagadougou, April 28, 2025 – Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo today reaffirmed Burkina Faso’s security forces’ commitment to national stability following recent destabilization attempts. During a press briefing, the PM honoured frontline troops while condemning what he called “misguided elements” manipulated by the nation’s enemies.

“The true fighters are on the frontlines, achieving victories daily,” Ouédraogo stated, acknowledging isolated cases of corruption but emphasizing the armed forces’ overall professionalism.

His remarks highlighted the contrast between Burkina’s dedicated majority military personnel and what he described as “a handful betraying their duty for money.”

The Prime Minister underscored growing military cooperation with Mali and Niger under the Sahel States Confederation framework, noting: “Our army proudly leads the fight for Burkina Faso’s dignity and true independence.” While addressing security breaches, he maintained public confidence in the forces, insisting traitors didn’t represent the military’s values.

The statement comes as Burkina’s security forces intensify counterterrorism operations amid regional instability.

Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo’s tribute to soldiers’ sacrifices aimed to bolster national morale while signalling resolve against both external threats and internal subversion.
