NBA/Zion Williamson faces civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault

Zion Williamson has been sued in a Los Angeles civil court, accused of raping a woman twice in Beverly Hills in 2020. The lawsuit, filed by an unnamed plaintiff, also alleges assault, sexual battery, domestic violence, and false imprisonment, describing the abuse as “sexual, physical, emotional, and financial.”

The New Orleans Pelicans star, the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, has not been criminally charged.

His legal team called the claims “categorically false and reckless,” accusing the plaintiff of seeking financial gain. They stated Williamson previously reported her for alleged extortion attempts.

The plaintiff’s attorney, Sam Taylor II, defended the lawsuit’s legitimacy, saying the complaint contains “detailed allegations.” The Pelicans have not yet commented.

Williamson, 24, has faced injuries and off-court scrutiny in recent years, but this lawsuit marks his most serious legal challenge. His attorneys say they will pursue defamation damage
