Inter Milan mourns legendary President Ernesto Pellegrini

Ernesto Pellegrini, the visionary businessman who transformed Inter Milan in the 1980s and 90s, has died at 84 on the same day the club plays a Champions League final against PSG.

Pellegrini became Inter’s 17th president in 1984, ushering in a golden era. He signed icons like Matthäus, Klinsmann, and Brehme, while Trapattoni’s legendary side featuring Zenga, Bergomi, and Ferri dominated Italy and Europe.

His passion for the Nerazzurri never faded; in 2016, he proudly declared investing in Inter was his greatest pride.

Il Messaggero recalled his emotional tribute to past players, quoting his love for the song Mi manchi a nostalgic ode to the team he adored.

Even in personal moments, his bond with Inter shone: his grandson was born on March 9, the club’s founding date.

Pellegrini’s legacy endures as Inter returns to Europe’s biggest stage. Fans and players alike will honor the man who helped shape their history.
