Africa: Harouna Douamba accused without proof, breaks his silence in the face of EU sanctions

In a world undergoing geopolitical realignment, Africa is witnessing the rise of bold, sovereign voices like Harouna Douamba. The Ivorian-Burkinabe entrepreneur and pan-African activist has become the latest target of EU sanctions – accused without evidence of “destabilization activities” with Russia. In an exclusive interview with Togo’s New World TV, Douamba fired back with a blistering rebuttal that’s resonating across the continent.

“This is ideological warfare disguised as policy,” declared the former head of the Pan-African Investment Group (GPCI), dismissing the allegations as fabrications recycled through French media outlets.

His real crime? Supporting African nations breaking from colonial-era dependencies.

Harouna Douamba represents Africa’s new guard – business leaders doubling as sovereignty activists.

By taking his case to the European Court of Justice, he’s pursuing more than personal vindication.

This legal challenge could establish precedent protecting pan-Africanists from what many see as weaponized sanctions.”

The West must understand,” he asserted, “that rejecting neo-colonialism doesn’t make us proxies for other powers.”

As the case unfolds, it’s becoming a litmus test for whether Brussels can reconcile its “partnership of equals” rhetoric with its punitive actions against Africa’s self-determination movement.
