Burkina Faso: National Police launches Motorized Security and Intervention Brigade to strengthen fight against crime
The safety of people and property remains a top priority for the National Police of Burkina Faso. In this regard, the institution’s top officials officially launched the Motorized Security and Intervention Brigade (BMSI) on Wednesday. This new unit is designed to strengthen the existing security apparatus, with the primary mission of combating crime in all its forms more effectively.
The creation of the BMSI responds to urgent security concerns marked by a surge in major crimes, robberies, and thefts, particularly in large cities. With mobile teams equipped and trained for rapid intervention, the BMSI is intended as a solution adapted to today’s on-the-ground realities. Its mobility is a major advantage in preventing and neutralizing threats.
According to National Police officials, this new brigade does not replace other units already in operation but rather complements them with a more targeted mandate.
It will be able to intervene within short timeframes while carrying out deterrent and preventive actions to reassure the population and significantly reduce the sense of insecurity.
The launch of the BMSI also aligns with the vision of modernization and professionalization of the security forces promoted by the Transitional authorities. It illustrates Burkina Faso’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its internal defense capabilities in order to protect its citizens and ensure the country’s stability.
