Football/ Burkina Faso dismisses National Coach After AFCON exit
The Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) has terminated its contract with head coach Brama Traoré and his entire technical staff following the national team’s premature exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The decision comes after “Les Étalons “were eliminated in the round of 16, soundly defeated 3-0 by Côte d’Ivoire. In an official statement, the FBF cited a “thorough analysis” of the tournament campaign, concluding that the results “fell far short of the objectives set.”
Traoré’s departure marks the end of a tenure cut short by the team’s failure to progress deep into the continental tournament. The federation is now expected to immediately begin its search for a new coach to lead the team in upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The swift action underscores the high expectations placed on the Burkinabè squad and the pressure to improve upon their historic runner-up finish in 2013.
