Burkina Faso: CNSS 2025 inspections – over 13,000 employers under scrutiny

The National Social Security Fund (CNSS) of Burkina Faso held a press conference on Friday, June 5, 2026. Led by the Director General, Dr. Hermann Yacouba Nacambo, the meeting aimed to present a detailed report on the inspection operations carried out among employers throughout the year 2025.

The stated objective is clear: to strengthen workers’ social protection and combat non-compliance with legal obligations.

Dr. Nacambo recalled the vital importance of social security. It protects workers and their families against life’s risks, including workplace accidents, occupational diseases, disability, or death.

“This system is based on a fundamental principle, namely employers’ compliance with social obligations. Without affiliation, without worker registration, without wage declarations and contribution payments, social protection cannot function fully,” he insisted. This situation justifies the intensification of inspections in 2025.

The results are unequivocal. In total, 13,307 employers were inspected last year. These targeted checks made it possible to regularize the situation of thousands of workers who had previously been outside the system.

The operation specifically dedicated to road transporters led to the inspection of 3,192 employers. Among them, 353 were already affiliated with the CNSS.

This same operation resulted in the registration of 1,230 new workers, the processing of 903 entry reports and 256 exit reports.

Furthermore, 1,733 documents were seized and 96 vehicles were impounded, reflecting the firmness of the actions taken.

Another operation, targeting bakeries, pastry shops, and ice cream parlors, revealed a worrying situation.

Of the 496 employers known to the services, 163 were completely unknown to the CNSS.

Regarding workers, 1,404 were already registered, but 1,367 others were not. This figure underscores the scale of the work that remains to be done.

Through these inspections, the CNSS aims not only to sanction non-compliant employers but also to provide effective social coverage to thousands of Burkinabe, in line with its fundamental missions.
