Burkina-Faso: The Consumers’ league receives an audience with the President of the transitional government

A delegation from the Burkina Faso Consumer League (LCB), led by its head, Dasmané TRAORE, was received in audience on Monday, March 4, 2024, by the President of the transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.

Dasmané TRAORE, the head of the Burkina Faso Consumer League (LCB), along with his delegation, met with the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, to express their admiration and encouragement for the transitional President’s achievements in the field.

«We also conveyed to the President that beyond the security aspect of the country, there is also a need to focus on the economic aspect because today, unfortunately, consumers are subjected to all kinds of abuses in the field to the point where it may eventually undermine their morale», emphasized Dasmané TRAORE.

In this regard, concerning mobile phone operators, the LCB asked the Head of State to «put an end to the mistreatment of consumers».

Regarding telecommunications, the League also advocated for the emergence of a fourth mobile phone operator in the hope that this would contribute to improving competition in the sector for quality services benefiting consumers.

During the meeting with the Transition President, the LCB delegation also discussed issues related to the quality of healthcare and pharmaceutical products, artificial shortages of butane gas created by some retailers at the expense of consumers.

Furthermore, the President of the LCB informed Captain Ibrahim TRAORE that «…people (…) transfer rice into new bags to sell them again to consumers…».

He proposed that these individuals should now be considered as “war criminals.”

«We are very satisfied with our discussions» with the Head of State, concluded the President of the LCB at the end of the audience.

Additionally, he reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to stand alongside Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.
