Real Madrid advances to Champions League Quarterfinals with narrow victory over RB Leipzig

In the return leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Real Madrid hosted RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu and secured their spot in the quarterfinals.

The match was anticipated to be closely contested, with RB Leipzig approaching the game aggressively, considering their struggles in the Bundesliga.

Despite a lackluster first half that ended 0-0, the second half proved more eventful. RB Leipzig, facing elimination, attempted to seize control but faced a formidable Andriy Lunin in the Real Madrid goal.

The breakthrough came as Jude Bellingham set up Vinicius Junior for the opening goal.

Although the Carlo Ancelotti-led team thought they had done enough, RB Leipzig equalized, leading to a fiercely competitive end to the match.

However, the score remained unchanged, allowing Real Madrid to qualify for the quarterfinals. The draw for the next round, where they will discover their opponent, is set for March 15.
