City’s Commanding Victory: 3-1 Triumph over Copenhagen FC propels Manchester City into Champions League Quarterfinals

Copenhagen FC played host to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday night. Similar to the first-leg match in Denmark, City repeated their performance, securing a 3-1 victory over the visitors.

Pep Guardiola’s men started the game in spectacular fashion, opening the scoring just five minutes into the match with a goal from Manuel Akanji (5′, 1-0).

Four minutes later, Argentine forward Julian Alvarez (9′, 2-0) followed suit, doubling the lead within the first quarter-hour.

Despite Jacob Neestrup’s side facing a deficit, they didn’t give up. They managed to pull one back through Mohamed Elyounoussi (29′, 2-1).

City, always alert to capitalize on defensive errors, extended their lead to two goals again with a third goal.

Erling Haaland (45+3′, 3-1) capitalized on a beautiful cross from Rodri to score the third goal with his left foot, making it 3-1 at halftime.

The hard work was done in the first half, and in the second half, the hosts managed their precious 3-1 lead until the end of regulation time.

The reigning champions, Manchester City, thus qualify for the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament for the seventh consecutive time.
