Togo: World Bank Representative praises Faure Gnassingbé’s efforts for sustainable development of the Country

During his official visit to Togo’s capital, the World Bank’s Vice President for West and Central Africa, Ousmane Diagana, praised the remarkable progress made by the country in implementing reforms and investing in human capital. Diagana lauded the efforts of President Faure Gnassingbé and his government in advancing Togo’s sustainable development agenda.

In line with the government’s strategic plan, President Gnassingbé has led reforms across critical sectors, with support from partners like the World Bank.

These reforms have prioritized improving access to basic social services, creating job opportunities for youth, enhancing financial inclusion, empowering women, and modernizing agriculture.

Togo has made sustainable and inclusive economic growth a top priority, evidenced by significant investments in economic infrastructure such as the Port of Lomé, which has spurred national economic transformation.

President Gnassingbé has also fostered an enabling environment for private investment through public-private partnerships.

A key factor in accelerating private investment in the country has been President Gnassingbé’s emphasis on peace and stability.

These reforms have positioned Lomé as an «Investment Capital» and a hub for business opportunities, attracting economic operators and investors.

Diagana’s visit focused on assessing progress and exploring avenues for continued World Bank support in key sectors, highlighting the productive partnership between Togo and international development partners.
