Burkina Faso: Improved freight management, President gives clear and necessary directions

After reviewing the situation regarding the transportation of goods to and from Burkina Faso, managed by the Burkinabe Shippers’ Council (BSC), the transitional president and head of state, Captain Ibrahim Traore, has provided clear, reliable, and useful directives.

These directives complement the ambitions of the import-export goods transport institution, particularly the construction of a hazardous products terminal at ports frequented by the country, aimed at making Burkina Faso’s logistics chain more competitive.

In line with the head of state’s directives, BSC officials are considering establishing multimodal platforms for goods transport.

This involves the combined use of multiple transportation modes to receive and transport goods from frequented ports to Burkina Faso.

The Port of Lomé, which serves as a transit point for Faso’s goods, is targeted by this new transport platform that the country aims to establish.

All these decisions were discussed during the meeting between the transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traore, and a delegation from the Burkinabe Shippers’ Council on Friday, April 12, 2024.

This strategy in the field of goods transportation in Burkina Faso demonstrates the country’s authorities’ willingness to better control these transactions and enhance the security of goods entering or leaving the country.
