Blue Ivy Carter joins cast of Lion King Prequel “Mufasa: The Lion King”

Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, has joined the voice cast of the upcoming Lion King prequel, “Mufasa: The Lion King.” The 12-year-old will voice Kiara, the daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala, portrayed by her mother.

Beyoncé will reprise her role from the 2019 remake, with Moonlight director Barry Jenkins at the helm.

The film will delve into Mufasa’s origin story and his relationship with Scar, combining live-action techniques with CGI.

Blue Ivy’s professionalism impressed Jenkins, who also noted Beyoncé’s maternal presence on set.

The cast includes Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as younger versions of Mufasa and Scar, respectively, along with Donald Glover returning as Simba.

Lin-Manuel Miranda will contribute original songs. Blue Ivy’s debut role has reignited discussions about nepotism, but her talent shines through. “Mufasa: The Lion King” is set for a December release in the UK.
