Basketball/ Joel Embiid set for comeback: Sixers Star returns to full practice

Philadelphia 76ers fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid appears ready to make his season debut. ESPN reports that the All-Star center has resumed full team practices, including 5-on-5 scrimmages, following his preseason knee injury.

The Sixers, who have managed an impressive 3-1 record in Embiid’s absence, could see their star player back on the court as soon as Saturday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.

This potential return would significantly boost Philadelphia’s frontcourt presence.

However, Embiid’s absence has come at a cost beyond the court. The NBA recently fined the 76ers organization $100,000 for failing to comply with injury reporting protocols, specifically citing the team’s premature announcement of Embiid’s expected absence from several games this season.

The 2023 MVP’s return could prove crucial for Philadelphia’s early-season momentum, as the team looks to build on their strong start.

Embiid’s presence would add to an already effective lineup that has shown resilience without their cornerstone player.
