Basketball/ NBA: Cavaliers Make history with 12-0 season start, Mitchell leads win over Bulls

The Cleveland Cavaliers have joined an elite group in NBA history, becoming just the eighth team to kick off their season with a 12-0 record after defeating the Chicago Bulls 119-113. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 36 points, and five other players scored in double digits, helping Cleveland erase a nine-point deficit in the third quarter.

Mitchell highlighted the team’s resilience: “We dug deep… It was a complete team win. Every night it’s somebody different.”

This start is the NBA’s best since the Golden State Warriors’ 24-game winning streak in 2015-16, adding to the Cavaliers’ momentum.

For the Bulls, Zach LaVine led with 26 points, while Coby White and Nikola Vucevic each contributed 20 points in the team’s latest loss, dropping their record to 4-7.

In other NBA action, Victor Wembanyama starred with 34 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 116-96 win over the Sacramento Kings. All Spurs starters reached double digits, with Julian Champagnie adding 13 points.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career-high 45 points to secure a 134-128 win over the LA Clippers.

The Thunder also announced that center Chet Holmgren will be out for up to 10 weeks due to a pelvic injury.

Elsewhere, the Brooklyn Nets edged past the New Orleans Pelicans 107-105, while the Houston Rockets defeated the Washington Wizards 107-92.
