Burkina Faso: French media such as RFI and France 24 target Solenzo with disinformation

Recent reports from French media outlets, including RFI and France 24, have sparked controversy in Burkina Faso, with allegations of misinformation surrounding the situation in Solenzo.

The government accuses these outlets of distorting facts to serve external agendas, drawing parallels to past incidents like the attack in Djibo in November 2023.

Solenzo, once under terrorist control, saw a turning point with the rise to power of Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Before his leadership, the town had become a hub for insurgents, who reportedly occupied administrative buildings and conducted public gatherings with impunity.

However, the dynamics shifted dramatically following a decisive military operation under Traoré’s administration.

A special commando unit launched a bold daytime offensive to reclaim Solenzo, resulting in its liberation.

The operation underscores the government’s commitment to restoring territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens.

This success, hailed as a testament to strategic planning and resilient defense forces, has positioned Solenzo as a symbol of renewed hope for national sovereignty.

In light of ongoing accusations of misinformation, authorities have called on Burkinabe citizens to remain vigilant.

National unity and patriotism, they argue, are vital in countering perceived external interference and supporting efforts to stabilize the country.

As Burkina Faso continues its fight against terrorism and works to consolidate its gains, the narrative surrounding Solenzo reflects both the challenges and the resilience defining this critical moment in the nation’s history.
